IV Glutathione – “The Mother of All Antioxidants”
Glutathione (also known as GSH) is a substance found naturally in your body. Glutathione is also found in certain foods such as certain fruits, vegetables, and meats. Glutathione can also be administered as dietary supplement.
Glutathione is the most powerful antioxidant know and is an immune system stimulator. It is commonly referred to as the Mother of All Antioxidants.
Health Benefits of Glutathione
Since glutathione plays such a key role in antioxidant defense, the breakdown of nutrients as well as the regulation of many biological processes most importantly immune response, it is critical to maintain optimal levels of glutathione.
Glutathione deficiency results in oxidative stress. Oxidative stress leads to the development of many diseases such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, liver disease, cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, cancer, heart attack, stroke and diabetes. In addition, glutathione is reported to reverse the aging process, prevent cancer, and preserve memory, although glutathione studies are limited.
In some cases, healthcare professionals administer glutathione through use of an IV. When given intravenously, glutathione is typically used to treat conditions like side effects of chemotherapy, hemodialysis treatment, cardiac bypass surgery, Parkinson’s disease, atherosclerosis, and diabetes. People who need to reduce their oxidative stress would benefit from IV glutathione therapy.
